Avant8
Salt Lake City, Utah
Est. 2010
We started with search in 2010. Brands and websites came next, then software. The test hasn't changed: did it help the business?
Sometimes you have to revolt against who you've been to become who you're supposed to be.
For a while we did the agency thing, because that's how it's supposed to be done. It was good. It wasn't great.
What we learned is that we shine in the problems we solve and the outcomes we create, not in a list of services. So we start with the end in mind and build only what gets you there.
If that sounds like the partner you want, let's talk. If not, there are agencies that will suit you better, and that's fine too.
2010
Avant8 opens in Utah. Big ambitions.
2015
Brand, websites and search become the core.
2019
Creatives, strategists, developers. One team.
2023
Into software, products and new tech.
2026
A new way of building.

Founder
Ross
McGarvey
Ross is Scottish. He landed in the US in 2009, at the bottom of the downturn, with four bags, six boxes and a plan. A year later he started Avant8, and he's been building companies ever since, from basement ideas to multimillion-dollar ventures spanning marketing, technology and AI.
As a founder, investor and advisor, he brings an owner's view to client work: commercial first, technically curious, and impatient with anything that looks good but doesn't move the business. Utah Business named him to its 40 Under 40, and Forbes has featured him.

Scottish bluntness. American optimism. A soft spot for things built to last.
